On September 22, Purkmistr will host their 5th annual microbrewery festival, Slunce v Skle. This festival is a rare opportunity to taste some of the best beer from well-known and up-and-coming micro-brewers from all around the country, just a short distance from Prague.
Last year when we visited, the whole courtyard and street outside were lined with beer booths, selling every sort of beer possible. Completely packed by the mid-afternoon, the crowd begins to fade in the early evening. This year, they should also have some booths selling various sorts of typical Czech food, like grilled klobasa and other meat. You can simply buy a glass mug, and venture from brewer to brewer, trying whatever beer you like for a decent price. This is where we first had a chance to try beer from Pivovar Třebonice, a small one man ingenious brewery located in the tiny village of Třebonice, just next to Zlicin, who last year one the award for best new microbrewery.
Purkmistr is located in Černice, a suburb of Pilsen, which is just one hour away from Prague. To reach Purkmistr, take bus 13 to the ‘General Lišky’ stop.
