Spring in Prague means green parks, flowers blooming, and a city alive with beer festivals.
Over the past few years, beer festivals have exploded in Czech Republic, often serving up beers from up-and-coming to classic favorites of the microbrewery scene. Prague’s farmer’s markets, parks, and brewery grounds have all become a meeting point for the young and old, all thirsty for a fresh good beer outdoors in the sun.
Here’s our list of favorite festivals in the Czech Republic that we’re looking forward to this year. Cheers!
Located at Břevnovského Klášter on the first of May, the brewery grounds are beautiful and we expect excellent beer and good food.
Held in this year’s European Cultural Capitol, this is a nice opportunity to visit Plzeň and sample the microbrewery scene there. Purkmistr brewery, one of our favorites, is located on Plzeň’s edge and is always worth a visit.
Kocour’s brewery grounds host their annual smoked beer festival on May 2. A fun brewery loaded with good beer and food, the area around Varnsdorf is also worth checking out for a hiking or cycling trip.
Held on May 23 at Černokostelecký brewery in Kostelec nad Černými Lesy, this is a unique chance to sample great beer and delicious Czech food.
Parukářce, a large park overlooking Žižkov, hosts their annual beer festival, which we’ve always enjoyed for its chill and laid back atmosphere. Bring a blanket, friends, and an appetite.
Held by the Moravian Micro-brewers Union (Českomoravského svazu minipivovarů), this is where you can sample what’s new as well as old favorites on the Castle grounds.
Náplavka’s farmer’s market morphs into a lively beer festival, complete with a huge variety of food and live music. Look for their beer brewed specially just for this occasion.
