From the first smell of fresh beef and a quick glance inside, this jammed packed little pub seemed promising. Beroun would not be the place one would expect to find a finely tuned menu of burgers and Mexican, but that it is. Black Dog Cantina is simply that- hearty, juicy American style burgers and fresh Mexican cuisine with Holba and one changing beer on tap.
Bustling and energetic, this one room pub caters to locals of all ages as well as guests who venture from Prague searching for a real burger.
Always voted one of the top burgers at BurgerFest, Black Dog Cantina won 1st place in 2012 and 2nd place in 2013. The burgers here are obviously made from quality beef, juicy and tender, with toppings piled onto a brioche bun, amounting to a quite challenging eating experience. Diverse, the burger menu here has some unique choices. The Mexican menu, which includes fajitas, burritos, tacos, and daily specials, is equally fresh and delicious.
Holba 11° and 12° are on tap, while the third tap changes. The American influence doesn’t just cover the food, but they also have a variety of American sodas like Sunkist Grape, A&W Root beer, and Dr.Pepper. For dessert, they have cookies and brownies. As mentioned before, this restaurant is one tiny room, encompassing both the dining area and kitchen. So while you wait, you’ll be able to see all the kitchen action. The staff are cheerful, hard working, and helpful. Reservations are a must!
Beroun is easily accessible from Prague by train and bus. Buses leave frequently from Zličín and Nové Butovice, as do trains from Hlavní Nádraží. One way should be about 20 or 30 minutes. Black Dog Cantina is located in the center, a 10 minute walk from the train station.
