Located in Vinohrady, Restaurace Hrom do Police has 6 beers on tap from Mestansky Pivovar Policka. This restaurant is one of the few places in Prague to drink beer from this small brewery, which is from the town of Policka, in the Czech Moravian highlands. This is some excellent beer- all their beers have a nice complex flavor to them, and with 6 to choose from, you’re sure to find one that you like.
The interior of this medium sized pub is quite cozy. It’s decorated to feel something like your grandma’s kitchen. But maybe your granny is a secret police woman- because of the oddly bright lights, you also feel like you could be in an interrogation room. Some of the staff speak English, but many do not. They have a large menu of typical Czech food, which is ok…maybe not the tastiest food. During the lunch hour, they have a lunch menu with cheaper prices. Prices for food are reasonable, and their beer is a bargain.
This pub is popular amongst all sorts of beer lovers, so consider making a reservation, especially for a Friday night. During the evenings, the atmosphere can be quite lively and loud, as people come after work to enjoy a good beer.
The closest metro station is Jiriho z Podebrad, or you can take trams 10 or 16 to Sumavska. The entrance to Hrom do Police can be a bit tricky- they list there address as Moravska 40, which is true- but the entrance to their restaurant is on Chodska street. This pub is closed on Sundays.
