Few pubs have a happy hour in Prague, no doubt because the price of beer gives one an eternal happy hour. But Soma takes happy hour to another level- Kločavka's small 11° lager is only 10 czk!
4 taps serve beer from Liben’s Pivovar Kolčavka, with one tap dedicated to their 11° light lager. The three other taps pour ales and seasonal brews, fresh from the brewery. Kolčavka brews solid lagers, their 11° being a very refreshing and thirst quenching beer. Their ales and seasonal beers are pretty tasty. At the time of our visit, there was an Irish Red Ale and a Ginger Ale on tap.
Soma has a small menu of meat pies from Smith’s Pie shop, and burritos which are also made externally. They have a decent cocktail menu and extensive liquor selection. If there’s a cocktail to your fancy that’s not on the list, simply inquire and the bar tender will happily make any cocktail you’d like. Service is friendly and bi-lingual.
The click of lighters sound sharply over the low beat of electronic dance music and the increasingly loud chatter of guests. Soma has a unique atmosphere that a decade ago, was commonplace; underground and cavernous, with dark corners and a haze of musty cigarette smoke hanging above tasteless well worn 90’s furniture, Soma feels reminiscent of a local den of the mid-2000’s. These days, thankfully, lighting up a cigarette indoors is becoming more and more taboo, even in Prague. But smokers are given their award at Soma- a cool place with a hell of a happy hour.
Soma also hosts Dj events and open-mike night. Check out their Facebook page for current info. Located on Budečská street in Vinohrady, the nearest tram stops are Šumavská or Jana Masaryka
