At the far end of Vitkov park, close to the large intersection of Ohrada, is a quiet, green beer garden ideal for escaping city heat. Serving Staropramen beer, they have on tap světlý ležák 10° and 11° granát, tmavé 11° and Cool Lemon (a lemon flavored, mildly alcoholic beer newly on the market in Prague).
This is a large green space with umbrellas and picnic tables, a play ground for kids, fussball, and sand pit, possibly for football tennis (definitely not volleyball). Grilling simple Czech classics like klobasa, grilled chicken breasts, pork neck (krkovice), and hot dogs (parky), you can also snack on nakládaný hermelín (pickled camembert cheese) and utopenec (pickled sausage).
Prices are cheaper than some of the more popular gardens. Zahrádky Žižkov doesn’t have remarkable views, or remarkable beer- but it’s a nice green space to drink beer in Žižkov. Take trams 9, 10, 16, or 1 to stops Ohrada or Biskupcova, and Zahrádky Žižkov is up small a hill close to the Krejcárek overpass.
